Work Experience
Retail Sales Supervisor
Bode - Jones
2020-2022
  • I began part-time, February 2020. Six months later, the company promoted me to Sales Supervisor.
  • As supervisor, I train 10+ Sales Associates in the specifics of new collections, their fabrics, fit and silhouettes.
  • I work closely with all associates instilling ideas they can use to better assist the variety and needs of our customers. This training has directly increased our sales by 41% over last year.
  • This personal training occurs in both a group setting and individually on the floor (when I am the MOD) and my associates have questions or need assistance.
  • At the end of the day (managers rotate turns) I do all aspects required by the main headquarters in New York City to close out the store.
  • I am in charge of creating all of the opening daily reports. These reports include: all employees' break time, managers' segments to do MOD and the times and sections of the store needed to be covered by each associate to provide a greater customer service. The "Plan for the Week/Month" covers topics like Traffic, ADS, UPT, Conversion, and how many transactions associates need to generate per day (based on trends from last year). For closing procedures, I close and balance registers, count the Petty Cash from safe to confirm money is correct and make the deposit slip. Closing communications of the day, explain how the business plan for the day performed, discusses the store's UPT, ADS, highest and lowest hour of Conversion and what garments sold most and name our store's top three sales associates and their individual UPT and ADS numbers. Copies of these documents are emailed to both our store and regional managers. Before the store is locked for the night, associates who have stayed (after closing to the public) have been busy preparing the store for the next day's opening.
  • I assist with visual merchandising (when needed). Displays should have curb appeal and brand signature. As a way of engaging my Sales Associates, I came out with the idea for the "Look of the Week". To confirm my associates have brand knowledge, each Monday one associate is given the task of putting together an explaining an outfit for a character in a storyline I create.

The right format for your retail sales supervisor resume

When it comes to formatting your Retail Sales Supervisor resume, there are certain things you need to keep in mind. These include your level of expertise, your total years of experience, and the position and company you’re applying for, to name a few.

You can choose between three basic resume formats:

The reverse-chronological format is just that – all your experience listed in a reverse-chronological way. It’s great for experienced professionals who have been in the industry for many years and have no career gaps.

The functional skills-based resume, on the other hand, focuses on skills, education, and personality traits, rather than experience. This makes it great for graduates, people with less experience, or bigger career gaps. The idea is to show you’re the perfect match without putting too much emphasis on your lack of relevant experience.

If none of these sound suitable, go for a hybrid (or combination) resume. It’s a mix of experience, skills, and personality traits. It’s also considered modern and innovative because of its non-traditional structure and sections. Here, you can add details about what your typical day looks like or what your life philosophy is. In short, the hybrid resume format shows who you are, both as a professional and as an individual.

The right kind of creativity for your retail sales supervisor resume

Several years ago, everyone preferred keeping a safe distance from creative resumes. Today, adding creativity to your CV is considered cool, innovative, and one of the best ways to stand out.

You can add a creative section that describes your typical day or even go for a colorful creative template. No matter what you choose, make sure to keep the position, company, and industry in mind. Otherwise, you risk looking silly.
