Cover Letter
To The Manager
I would like to apply for one of the positions that you currently have advertised on Seek for a Pickup & Delivery Driver.
For the 12 years up to April 2021, I was employed as the Distribution Manager for Community Newspaper Group, however, following a change of owner, and a company restructure, I was made redundant. In response to this new challenge, I have since obtained my Construction Industry White Card, and my Medium Rigid driving licence, and have been working for one of my previous contacts in the media industry, as a truck driver. However, I am still looking for a long term, and more stable role, with a progressive Perth company, that can utilise my skills and experience.
My previous roles have provided me with a broad set of work skills which I believe would be valuable assets in  the role as a Delivery Driver with Repco.
1) The nature of the jobs that I have worked in have all been fast paced, and subject to last minute changes, requiring me to be flexible, able to perform under pressure, reprioritise, multi-task my workload, and to work to tight deadlines.
2) My roles have also required me to build strong relationships with all of the companies internal and external customers, and these were fundamentally built on clear communication, excellent service, trust and honesty, and hard work.
3) Throughout my career, there have been situations where I have been faced with challenges, whether they be the result of machinery breakdowns, the late delivery of time sensitive stock, or staffing issues for example. Using my initiative and creativity, and drawing from previous experience, I found effective solutions to these issues.
I am a dependable, hard worker who always strives to give my roles 100% of my effort, aiming to achieve the best outcome for both the client and the company, and I will therefore present your company in a very professional manner. I always practice good safety and driving habits, and have a clean driving licence.
I am highly motivated and willing to participate in any relevant training programs provided by your company to further enhance my career and suitability for the role.
If you wish to discuss my application further, please contact me at your convenience.
Yours Faithfully,
Houston Schneider

According to some experts, finding exciting job adverts is one of the most challenging problems job-seekers need to deal with.

But according to our own research, conveying your enthusiasm to a one-page cover letter might prove to be even more challenging.

After all, you don’t want a bland and boring cover letter to represent you, we get it.

But how can you make a strong first impression in just a few lines?

Below, you’ll find the best Delivery driver cover letter tips and examples that will help you find out.

Make your delivery driver cover letter stand out

The secret to making your Delivery driver cover letter remarkable is to share your excitement about the company, the field, and the position.

It’s also a good idea to aim not to re-write your resume, but rather to build upon it and expand on your competencies.

Now, let's look at some other things that will make recruiters remember you.

Stand out with a strong introduction and an appropriate salutation

Address your cover letter directly to the hiring manager, whenever possible. This has proven to be a good approach for two reasons.

First, it shows your attention to detail.

Second, it proves that you’re willing to do some research and go the extra mile for the sake of success.

But if finding the recruiter’s name is too difficult, you can go for a traditional gender-neutral phrase.

Here’s our selection of strong salutations. Feel free to borrow any of them:

  • To the [team you're applying for] Department
  • Dear Paul Black
  • Dear Hiring Manager
  • Dear Ms. Stone

We’ve all heard it – introductions are a big deal.

A good cover letter introduction can help you land an interview, while a bad introduction can ruin all your chances of getting your dream job as Delivery driver.

So what are the things that can make your cover letter stand out? Honesty, excitement, and motivation.

Show your motivation and excitement to join the company in an honest way. And if you think that’d suit the company – share your vision with the recruiter. Tell them how you think being part of the team can help both parties grow.

Talk about your hard and soft skills

Although you’ve probably listed (or are planning to list) your hard skills on your resume, don’t forget to mention them in your cover letter as well. One way to do that is by telling a personal story.

You can share how some of your skills or qualities have helped you achieve goals in the past. Or perhaps you want to talk about the things that help you get over challenges. You decide.

Naturally, both soft and hard skills should be present here. It’s especially important to include skills and qualifications that have been mentioned as part of the job description or the requirements section of the advert. This will help you pass applicant tracking systems that screen documents for certain keywords.

Prove how your skills can help the company grow

Proving that you are familiar with the company, its problems, and its goals is without a doubt one of the best ways to stand out.

If you want to show your passion for the company, mention how your skills and previous achievements can help the team grow.

It’s also worth mentioning how your experience can help resolve some of the most common industry issues.

Finish your cover letter with a call to action

The last paragraph of your cover letter should briefly sum up the whole text. This is the time to express your motivation to get to the next step of the hiring process, but also your gratitude for the reader’s time and consideration.

You can be creative or use traditional closing lines here – it all depends on your preference and the company culture.
